Our Story

National Shipping Company — known across the industry as Nashipco — was founded in 1959 in Beirut, Lebanon. From our earliest days, we set out to be more than a shipping agent. We built a company grounded in financial soundness, conservative business practices, and an unwavering commitment to the professionals we serve.

Over the decades, Nashipco has grown into one of Lebanon's leading port and transport agencies. Our longevity is not incidental — it is the result of relationships carefully cultivated with principals, clients, and port authorities across generations.

Rooted in Beirut's Maritime Tradition

Beirut's port has served as a vital gateway to the Eastern Mediterranean since 1894, connecting Lebanon to trade routes spanning Europe, Asia, and Africa. Before 1975, the Port of Beirut was among the most important entrepôts in the Middle East, handling millions of tons of cargo bound for Damascus, Amman, and beyond.

Nashipco has been part of this story for over six decades — adapting to change, enduring through adversity, and contributing to Beirut's enduring role as a regional maritime hub. Through periods of conflict, reconstruction, and renewal, we have maintained uninterrupted service to the principals and clients who depend on us.

Nashipco served as the exclusive Lebanese agent for P&O Nedlloyd, one of the world's preeminent container shipping lines, during a partnership that spanned the company's formative years through its acquisition by Maersk in 2005.
